The two strongest lessons I have learnt in the past week are “obey” and “wait”. Since the start of FCBS, the one word that keeps popping out to me from the theology lessons is “obey”. To obey the Lord and the leaders He has placed above us is an act of loving the Lord. That really blew my mind, as I have never equated obedience to love. I have no trouble obeying God and the leadership, but this new insight just made it more valuable to obey.  The next thing I caught was the importance of waiting in the process of obedience. There are often 3 answers to our prayers to God – Yes, No or Wait. When the answer is yes, it is very easy to rejoice. When the answer is no, it is clear cut – case close. However, it is most challenging when the answer is to wait. The period of waiting in obedience is a journey of trusting in God. I learnt this through a car-parking experience. Just over the weekend, I was at the PC Show. The parking condition was horrendous. However, I drove to Suntec and being the lazy me, I just wanted to get a parking lot nearest to the entrance to the PC Show. For a while I was still driving around like a headless chicken until I heard a voice that asked me to stop and wait. I was very eager to ignore that voice as there were many cars waiting in front of me along the same lane and a car was already exiting. Inside of me, I was thinking it would be impossible for two cars to leave at the same time. In just a split second, I decided to just stop and wait. Lo and behold, the car that was exiting left and in less than 2 seconds the car beside it also left. Being the one nearest to the lot, the lot was mine by default though I only stopped for 30s. This thought me a very precious lesson to “wait” and to “obey” when the Lord says so, even if it is beyond human understanding and nerve wrecking.
Be patient in the waiting, you will get there eventually
